Do you have too many things to do? Is your mind constantly spinning? Do you feel that you can never sit back and take a break because there is too much going on at one time? Are you nervous and feel that the world is coming down on top of you?
If you answered yes to any or all of those questions I have a quick and simple way to relax that works for me whenever I have too much going on in my mind.
STOP! Say the work stop either out loud or in your mind, then spend the next 30 seconds or so thinking about your breathing. As you breath in, say to yourself “in” as you breath out, say “out”. After a very short time, within a few seconds, all of the things that have your mind racing will slow down and all of your focus will be on your breath.
After you take that little mental break, you will notice that you can focus on your task at hand and not everything else that had your mind racing just a few minutes ago. Do this little breathing exercise as often as you need and once you do it a few times, you will notice that it will take less breaths to relax.
Please leave me comment if this works for you or if you have any other simple ways to help others relax.

Hi Doug,
I agree relaxation is important, every now and again when things seam too much (like twice a day) I just stop go for a quite walk with my dog, find somewhere quite, and take in the slow breaths that you mention here, and quite the mind in nature.
Thanks so much for sharing Wolfgang!
When I need to get away from work for a few minutes, I also walk outside and just breath while looking up at the sky. After just a few minutes, I can walk back in and get back to work with a clear mind. I know that this certainly helps my focus and I feel so much better.
